Web application language and framework

I am doing a project for college, 8 months in, our primamry learning language is java. So I am going to develop a web application. My question is can anyone with experience using different languages and frameworks reccomend something for someone of my level?

My skills in java are far from amazing at this point. I did a small app in rails but I was not too keen on ruby. I have researched but I feel I would need to actually use one of the frameworks to get a feel and because of time constraints it is not really an option to change my mind half way through.

I was considering Spring boot but I know little about this.

The web app itself will be very similar to a blogging site with private forums also.

There have been some suggestions to learn PHP. Timescale is 6 weeks.
